Our passenger shuttle service that we have been providing between Ankara Esenboğa Airport and city center was halted by the Ankara Municipality as from 9 a.m. on September 25th, 2014, because the Municipality leased the city center-airport line to a private company for 10 years. The Municipality simultaneously intervened and stopped the service at our Ankara Ulus and ASTI passenger terminals. Our shuttles, which operate in accordance to the passenger transportation license taken from State Airports Authority (DHMI) and General Directorate for Civil Aviation (SHGM), are kept at the city terminals. Whilst we continue our passenger transportation operations, which we consider as a public service, at 18 cities of Turkey without considering whether or not the airport is large, i.e. including the airports having low number of passengers, we find it suspicious to have our services halted by the municipalities at two metropolitans, Istanbul and Ankara, despite the decision of the Supreme Court. We believe, independent judiciary will definitely end this lawlessness.
Havaş is a respected entity and the oldest ground handling operations company of Turkey and we successfully represent our country at national and international platforms together with our 11,000 employees. We have been operating passenger transportation services between the city center and the airport using the authorized routes and applying the authorized fees for 31 years with our first class passenger transportation vehicles at many airports of our country in accordance with the related legislation and by obtaining all required permissions, licenses and certificates. In this sense, we deeply regret the interruption of our transportation services between Esenboğa Airport and city center by victimizing our passengers.
We would like to mention that Havaş will take all necessary legal actions in order to re-provide transportation service, which we believe highly beneficial to the public interest, to our passengers as soon as possible in accordance with all related legal and commercial laws and within the frame of the rights arising out of applicable privatization operations.
